JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President, Market & Client Relations (MCR) is responsible for the organization’s success by driving revenue, renewals, and customer satisfaction. The VP, MCR provides strategic oversight involving establishing and achieving sales goals, leading territory development, the renewal process and business expansion for the US and Canada. The VP, MCR is an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) that leads brand and product marketing, sales, and customer support activities, ensuring Committee for Children (CFC) products and services reach and benefit diverse communities. The VP, MCR reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

With a focus on go-to-market strategy and execution, the VP, MCR refines marketing, sales, and support strategies, leveraging data and experience to acquire new customers and renewals. The VP, MCR fosters a departmental culture that encourages diverse perspectives, prioritizes equity, and promotes inclusive conversations. The position is fully remote, work-from-home in the U.S. with occasional trips to the CFC headquarters in Seattle, WA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/KEY OUTCOMES

STRATEGY AND PLANNING:

·  Strategic oversight and management of Marketing, Sales, Customer Success & Support, and distribution partnerships.

·  Leads the development of innovative, culturally responsive marketing, sales and support approaches to increase reach and impact.

·  Provides a clear directional roadmap for the strategic go-to-market priorities for ongoing organization success.

·  Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction while achieving broader mission and business goals.

·  Oversees market research, competitive analyses, and customer insights to inform organization and product strategy and tactics.

·  Coordinates marketing, sales and support activity across the annual K12 selling and renewal cycles.

REVENUE ATTAINMENT:

·      Oversees the organization and management of product and services revenue.

·      Leads the process for annual and quarterly revenue forecasting; monitors sales activities and implements strategic and tactical adjustments as needed to attain forecast and budgeted commitments.

·  Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of lead generation, sales methods, distribution, partnerships, and renewal strategies, with an eye on results, costs, and efficiencies.

PARTNERSHIPS:

·  Oversees Partnership Development, particularly the ability to screen opportunities and identify strong benefits to both sides. We try to speak to many but do business with a few.

·  Forms positive, strategic relationships with partners, vendors, and distributors, ensuring partner and vendor alignment with organizational values.

·  Designs strategies for and leads implementation of tactics related to new business, market, and channel development, with special emphasis on filling strategic gaps in our offerings and reaching historically underserved segments.

MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS:

·  Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of brand strategies designed to elevate organizational and product brands. Positions CFC’s brands with integrity for targeted audiences.

·  Ensures planning, development, and launch of company marketing, communications, and sales campaigns and materials align with the overall strategic objectives of the organization.

·  Ensures all marketing and sales campaigns and materials are appropriately representative of, speak effectively to, amplify the voices of, and value the diverse communities CFC serves and hopes to serve.

·  Leads the development and implementation of pricing strategies, including product pricing models and discount and promotion strategies that support program acquisition and renewals in all segments.

MANAGEMENT:

·  Researches, understands and develops strategies to continually measure and improve CFC’s client retention rates for all clients.

·  Coaches the team on continuous lean process improvement with a clear focus on customer needs and priorities.

·  Continually assess teams to ensure alignment with evolving needs, strategically placing the right talent in the right roles as the organization progresses.

·  Drives talent optimization by implementing and modeling CFC’s performance management processes. This includes providing feedback, recognizing achievements, and facilitating continuous improvement to enhance individual and team contributions.

·  Holds oversight responsibility for marketing and sales technology systems, with a focus on full funnel management and team impact.

·  Responsible for developing and meeting expense budgets for all departments in MCR.

·  Set clear strategic direction for the MCR team and provide effective coaching and development to ensure the achievement of organization goals.

·  Demonstrates proficiency in delegation, leading through other managers, and fostering inclusive decision-making practices to create a collaborative and empowered work environment.

·  The VP MCR is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. ELT members are expected to collaborate closely with other leaders and be able to take an organization level perspective on critical decisions.

·  Leads and models a commitment to inclusion and respect for all – internally and externally.

·  Supports the growth of the MCR team’s skills, decision making, personal effectiveness, and the application of organization wide management practices.

·  As a non-profit CFC’s leaders support the equitable extension of our reach and impact through our publishing sustainability model. We believe all children can benefit from Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

·  Lead the continual evolution of go-to-market approaches fostering a culture of experimentation, embracing new methodologies, and leveraging data-driven insights to adapt and optimize practices as needed.

JOB-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

K-12 Go-To-Market Expertise:

·  Demonstrated track record of successful leadership in both Marketing and Sales for K-12 SaaS solutions.

·  Operational level understanding of how Marketing and Sales functions interact and collaborate as a cohesive team.

·  In-depth awareness of the nuances involved in serving education customers.

·  Critical familiarity with customer support and success functions, recognizing their significant in ensuring successful renewals for K-12 SaaS solutions.

·  Comfort with executive selling. A broad network of school leaders is a plus.

Business Acumen:

·  Demonstrates a deep understanding of the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) landscape and CFC’s brand positioning within the industry; to maximize the impact of marketing, sales, and client relations initiatives regionally, nationally and internationally.

·  Mastery in creating and implementing strategic initiatives for robust business growth, including designing and implementing feedback loops to promptly address challenges.

·  Proven ability to forecast short-term and long-term impacts on P&L performance, while building strong internal and external partnerships for mutually beneficial successes.

·  Champions organization change and digital transformation to enhance overall performance, coupled with evaluating industry and market trends to seize new opportunities.

·  Strong commitment to an evidence-based focus, identifying and retaining strategies that prove effective while proactively discarding or modifying approaches that do not contribute to desired outcomes.

Data Driven Decision Making:

·  Mastery ability to use information to shape decision making. This involves understanding data, being able to interpret its impact on the organization, coaching data analysts, and the ability to use data to communicate clearly and concisely with broad audiences.

Communicating Complex Concepts:

·  Exhibit an exceptional proficiency in articulating intricate and complex content and topics, employing various techniques to create a significant impact on the audience.

Brand Strategy Development and Implementation:

·  Demonstrate advanced skills in creating, executing, and maintaining effective brand strategies across the entire organization.

Technology:

·  Proficient in leading teams responsible for utilizing and managing CRM, Marketing, and Data Analytics systems, along with overseeing websites and digital marketing efforts. With a proven understanding of how these systems synergize to support go-to-market activities.

·  Software Applications: Knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI, and Outlook.

Visual and Design Sensibility:

·  Demonstrate leadership in guiding creative teams to produce compelling visual and design materials.

Communications Tools:

·  Possess advanced knowledge in using online and new media communications tools.

Preferred:

·  Experience with LEAN process management, implementing the Entrepreneurial Operation System (Wickman), and inclusive decision-making practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·  Ability to travel on average 5-10 days per month or 20% on an annual basis. The number of travel days may increase or decrease depending on business needs.

·  Position is performed primarily remote, requires travel to other areas of the U.S. and Canada and to the Seattle office as needed.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS

Minimum level of formal education required for the job

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred.

Years of experience

·  10+ years of marketing and/or sales management experience with departmental management level responsibilities for managing budgets, achieving multiple complex operational goals and evaluating, leading and supervising staff.

·  Management experience at mid to large educational companies (>$20m)

·  Hands on experience with implementing K12 SaaS solutions is required.
